Miiko was a one of a kind commissioned piece based on a real life tortoiseshell cat.
Unlike my previous dolls, Miiko stands at a much taller height of 50cm. Her structural design is inspired by 'Boudoir Dolls' from the 1920s - She has a soft plush body with floppy limbs and can sit or stand upright with the support of a base. Her head can also turn from side to side.
Her fabric covered body is completely hand dyed and painted. Her kimono is made from vintage 1960s kimono fabric and has a matching obi belt. She has miniature oak zori sandals which were cut, sanded and varnished by hand. The petals on her kanzashi hair piece were meticulously hand folded and applied to complete her look.
